Diron Jebejian & Andrea Montalbano

Diron Jebejian –  Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) Board member

Andrea Montalbano- Ms. Montalbano grew up on a soccer field in Miami. She continued to play through college, acting as captain for her Harvard University soccer team and eventually being inducted into the Harvard Varsity Club Hall of Fame.

As a member of the Harvard University Varsity Club Hall of Fame, her “soccer diplomacy” trip underscored Andrea’s strong sense that, “The physical and mental health benefits are countless, but the path is simple. All it takes is a ball, and the opportunity.”

In December 2014, journalist, coach, author and former college soccer captain Andrea Montalbano traveled to Armenia with her husband Diron Jebejian and their children, at the invitation of the U.S. Embassy in partnership with COAF. Her itinerary included a master class with the Armenian national women’s team, field training with young female soccer players and public presentations. Andrea visited COAF villages and Yerevan sites to encourage girls and their parents to embrace soccer as a sport that boosts confidence and improves health outcomes.

Diron and Andrea will share their experience working in Armenia with young female soccer players and future projects.
