More than 140 people gathered at the Tutak hall on Saturday, October 27, 2018 to enjoy a benefit piano concert by 16-year-old Cody Eskandarian. The event was held to support the Girls of Armenia Leadership Soccer, or GOALS. GOALS is an Armenian NGO dedicated to empowering girls in Armenia through sport. Cody is the son of Edna and Eddie Eskandarian, a GOALS Board Member and also a member of the Parish Council. “I think people who help others have a gift, the gift of commitment, helping, giving, staying involved, and making a difference is the greatest gift of all,” said Eddie Eskandarian. The concert included several classic pieces by Cody, as well as dances by the St. Gregory’s Dance troupe Choreographed by Chris Pahigian. GOALS was co-founded by members Andrea Montalbano and Diron Jebejian. Larry Vranka is also a Board Member and he and his family traveled to Armenia to volunteer in a GOALS summer camp. The festive evening was a tribute to the bright future of Armenia’s children and brought many new faces to St. Gregory’s including soccer stars Andranik and Alecko Eskandarian. Also there to support goals was Soccer Hall of Fame Coach Armand Dikranian and his family.
